Sungai Besi traders want concrete blocks to go

Taman Sungai Besi traders and residents are angered over four large concrete blocks left by a developer, three years ago, obstructing their use of the road.
KUALA LUMPUR: Complaints by traders and residents of Taman Sungai Besi over the placement of large concrete blocks obstructing their use of Jalan 1/108C for the past three years may finally be heard and acted on by the authorities.
Today, Gerakan public service and complaints bureau chief Wilson Lau and DBKL urban transport department director Tan Kim Bock visited the site after receiving several complaints from the traders.
The four concrete blocks placed by a developer during the construction of apartment units nearby, three years ago, left residents and traders with no choice but to use alternative routes in order to get to the main road.
A local trader, Liew Siew Hong, 42, said that eventhough there had been numerous complaints made to the concerned developer and DBKL, over the years, there has been no action taken by any of the parties.
“The blocks have been a big hassle for traders and residents since 2010.
“We need to take a longer route to get onto the main highway to go to Kuala Lumpur.
“The developer has no right to close the road, this is a public road,” Liew said.
He hoped that DBKL would help them by removing the concrete blocks as soon as possible and also repair the road.
“The road condition is very bad and becomes muddy during rainy days,
“I really hope DBKL will look into this matter seriously,” added Liew.
