AZMIN SHOWED LEADERSHIP UNLIKE KHALID, NAJIB! Samy’s son calls S'gor MB a true M'sian leader after seized Bibles returned
KOTA KINABALU - Following the return of bibles containing the world “Allah” to the Bible Society of Malaysia, Selangor Mentri Besar Azmin Ali has been hailed a true Malaysian leader by politicians, lawmakers and the public, including MIC’s S.Vell Paari.
Taking to Twitter, the son of former MIC president Datuk Seri S Samy Vellu said Azmin was “truly a leader or Malaysians” shortly after Azmin’s announcement of the returned bibles.
“Well done YB @AzminAli. You are truly a leader for Malaysians”, said Vell Paari.
Other notable tweets were from Eric Paulsen of rights group Lawyers for Liberty who tweeted “congrats for being resolute in resolving the bible issue — no flip-flipping or passing the buck — that’s good governance”.
“Many talk but few do. You are a man of ur words. Bless you and your team,” said one K.Kumar using the handle 2sayornot2say.
The user JustinTWJ tweeted “Seems like Azmin Ali is walking the talks as an MB.”
M.Zuhairi using the handle Mohd Zuhairi93 tweeted “Respect other religion. This is Islam. Tahniah YB!”
But the latest development in the Allah row also had its critics.
Gerakan Youth Chief Tan Keng Liang claimed the long wait was a deliberate act as the Pakatan Rakyat leaders could have taken action sooner.
“ability of MB return d Christian bible proves Pakatan ppl lied earlier as if matter beyond their jurisdiction” said Tan.
The Pakatan Rakyat Selangor government returned today the 321 Malay and Iban language Christian bibles containing the word “Allah” to the Bible Society of Malaysia confiscated by its state Islamic enforcers in January this year.
In a tweet, Selangor Mentri Besar Azmin Ali was pictured giving back the three Malay and Iban-language bibles to the Christian bookstore at Istana Alam Shah in Klang earlier this morning.
“An amicable resolution to the issue of the seizure of the Malaysia Language Bibles containing the word Allah,” Azmin tweeted from his @AzminAli account, attaching a photograph of the ceremony. -Malay Mail
