All Selangor Barisan Nasional (BN) assemblypersons have decided to turn down Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali's RM200,000 annual allocation offer to each of them, saying that it was not sincere.
Selangor opposition leader Datuk Mohd Shamsuddin Lias today said they felt insulted when Azmin, during the Selangor Budget 2015 announcement yesterday, remarked that he would take the cash back if BN was not interested.
"We see this as an insincere gesture on the part of the MB who stood up to talk about it but at the same time made a remark ‘kalau tak nak saya tarik balik’ (if you don't want it, I will take it back).
"If he is sincere, he wouldn't have said it that way. Perhaps it was the body language too," Shamsuddin said.
Azmin, when presenting the state budget at the Selangor State Assembly yesterday, suggested for the assemblymen’s provisions to be increased to RM700,000 each a year.
The decision, he said, was made to improve the services of the people’s representatives through the Mesra Rakyat programme.
He added that starting next year, the provisions would be extended to the state opposition representative with an allocation of RM200,000 each year.
