Cabinet informed Hudud has been approved

Shafie says that the law should be passed as it is Allah's law.

PUTRAJAYA: The Cabinet was informed today of the amendments to the Syariah Criminal Code II (1993) which was passed in Kelantan and ministers from Umno have agreed with the support given by the party’s elected representatives in Kelantan.

Umno vice-president Mohd Shafie Apdal, who is also the Rural and Regional Development Minister, however said further comment could not be made on the matter as Umno had agreed that it would be done by a specially-appointed spokesman.

“We agree fully that the law should be passed as it is Allah’s law which we must support.”

“There is no question of us opposing Allah’s laws, but its implementation must be improved,” he said at a media conference after witnessing the signing ceremony of a joint agreement between Kolej Universiti Agrosains Malaysia (UCAM) and the Royal Agricultural University (RAU), United Kingdom at his ministry here today.

Yesterday, the Kelantan State Assembly unanimously passed the amendments to the Syariah Criminal Code II (1993), better known as Hudud law.

All 44 State Assemblymen – 31 from PAS, 12 Barisan Nasional (BN) and one from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) were present when the enactment was passed.
