1MDB goose that lays golden egg, so why kill it, says Ku Nan
BY MELATI A. JALIL
Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor today hit out at critics of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), saying that the debt-ridden strategic investment fund is a competitive company "that lays the golden egg".
The Umno secretary-general also reminded Malaysians not to be taken in by the attacks against 1MDB which he described as part of an opposition's plot to hasten the company's failure.
"I wonder why 1MDB is being riddled with so many accusations. Why kill a goose that lays the golden egg," he said after officiating the Umno Youth sports carnival in Kuala Lumpur today.
"Many people should understand that finally, if we support 1MDB, surely it will produce golden eggs that are good for the country.
"I don't understand. This is an opposition's effort and I hope we are not buying into the opposition's effort. They do not want to see 1MDB a success."
"So my question is, why kill 1MDB?" he asked, adding that the company has also contributed a lot to society.
Tengku Adnan cited several examples of how 1MDB benefited thelower-income groups through its corporate social responsibility programmes where it had helped built houses, provide scholarships, electrical facilities at rural areas and also sending poor, elderly people for the haj.
"To me, 1MDB is a competitive company if we give them the support.
"These accusations that are being made, are probably perception. And like what the prime minister (Datuk Seri Najib Razak) has said, investigations will be carried out... So let the investigations proceed."
Tengku Adnan said the people must understand that the government was doing its best to help them and whatever gains will be returned to the people.
"Like 1MDB, we return it (to the people), even though the company has yet to make a profit.
"Why kill a goose that is going to lay golden eggs for us? So (we should) support it and don't follow the opposition who want to destroy whatever the government is doing."
Meanwhile, Tengku Adnan played down the planned Umno division chiefs’ meeting with Najib today, saying that it is just be a normal event held annually, dismissing claims that the meeting was to deal with rifts within the party or related to recent controversies.
"This is a normal meeting. Every year, we have such meeting. So, when the division chiefs want to meet up the president, they can see him.
"There are so many accusations being hurled and a lot of (negative) perception.
"There is no issue. They (the division chiefs) know Umno is strong. Umno won the most seats in Parliament, they know this. They just want to strengthen the party and to win in the next general election."

FUCKING IDIOT MUST SHOW PROOF 1MDB HAD BENEFITED THE LOWER-INCOME GROUP. TILL TODAY I HAD NOT SEEN A SINGLE ONE.
SIMILAR TO WHAT LGE (CM of Penang) said he gave PASMA RM1.2 million for flood victim in Kelantan. But only 20 people received RM100 from PASMA and the rest went into private pockets.
