The Opposition Leader is aging and needs a wife's attention, says Cheras Umno chief.
PETALING JAYA: Cheras Umno chief Syed Ali Alhabshee has urged Wan Azizah Ismail to step down from her position as PKR President, saying her time is better spent tending to the needs of her husband, jailed Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim.
In a press statement posted at his blog, he said Wan Azizah, as her party’s president, held no function other than to act as Anwar’s
puppet.
puppet.
“Furthermore,” he added, “Anwar is getting old and needs a wife’s attention.”
He claimed, without citing any intelligence, that PKR supporters had lost faith in Anwar, and he condemned the candle-light vigils and “Kita Lawan” demonstrations to show support for the Opposition Leader.
He said both forms of support were foreign to Malay culture and against the law.
He also said the future of Pakatan Rakyat as a political alliance will be determined at PAS’s upcoming annual convention.
“I predict that PR will meet its destruction if PAS is resolute about opting out of the alliance,” he added.
Commenting on last Saturday’s Kita Lawan protest in Kuala Lumpur, he said it was coldly received by the public.
“Citizens are fed up with PKR’s antics,” he said. “That’s why the rally was attended by only 5,000 people.”
He said the organisers must take responsibility for causing inconvenience to the public and disrupting business in Kuala Lumpur.
Some independent estimates said about 10,000 people took part in Saturday’s demonstration.
