PKR vice-president Chua Tian Chang was released from detention this afternoon after the magistrate rejected the police application to remand the opposition politician, his lawyer said on Twitter.
"@tianchua dibebaskan selepas Magistrate Sara Zariati menolak permohonan polis utk reman," R. Sivarasa wrote on the social media site, tagging Chua.
The Batu MP, better known as Tian Chua, was nabbed yesterday at Dang Wang police headquarters and taken to the detention centre in Jinjang to have his statement recorded.
He was being investigated under Section 143 of the Penal Code over his involvement in the March 7 #KitaLawan rally.
He was released at 12.22pm today.
