Adam Adli Abd Halim, one of the organisers of #TangkapNajib, is arrested today. – The Malaysian Insider filepic, July 31, 2015.Two activists behind a street rally in the capital tomorrow calling for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's resignation have been arrested in connection with the demonstration tomorrow.
Adam Adli Abd Halim and Syukri Rezab, who are organisers of the #TangkapNajib protest scheduled for tomorrow, are at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.
They were detained there after a meeting with the Dang Wangi police on tomorrow's street rally.
Shukri was detained first at around 4.25pm and is being taken to the Brickfields police headquarters. Adam Adli was detained about 20 minutes later.
Shukri is said to be detained under the Sedition Act.
The #TangkapNajib protest is organised by student activist group Demi Malaysia.
Lawyer Michelle Yesudas, who was also at the Dang Wangi station, tweeted that Syukri was "nabbed suddenly" as the Demi Malaysia group was meeting with police about tomorrow's rally.
