They would crop up at night, says Bukit Aman's anti-terror chief.
PETALING JAYA: Police are on the hunt for suspected militants who have been raising Islamic State (IS) flags in various parts of West Malaysia.
Bukit Aman’s anti-terrorism chief, Ayub Khan Mydin Pitchay, confirmed in a press interview that the flags had been appearing on road sides since last month in five states – Terengganu, Kedah, Perak, Johor and Selangor.
They were usually raised in the dark of night, a Chinese-language newspaper quoted him as saying.
He said some of the cases were being investigated by local police and the rest by the Special Branch.
No arrests had been made, he added.
He said his division was concentrating its investigation on finding out the mastermind or masterminds behind the occurrences.
