How much was spent for red shirt rally?

YOURSAY | ‘Does that mean that if they were not paid, Malay dignity would have taken a back seat.’
Mushiro: Former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad has stated an obvious fact when he said that PM Najib Razak has paid people to demonstrate in the streets in support of him.
This was what actually happened when the red shirts went to rally in Kuala Lumpur on Sept 16 without knowing exactly the purpose.
The whole show became clearer when the police issued a permit and helped with traffic flow. There was even a drama put up in Petaling Street.
Frankiepo: It's now known to the whole wide world that the Malaysian premier paid demonstrators to shore up his support.
Unlike the past Bersih protests and others, the Sept 16 rally was attended by paid protestors from Umno and those kampung folks who were ferried there in the busloads.
Kangkung: With RM2.6 billion allegedly in Najib's bank accounts, he can afford to pay for many more rallies.
The amazing thing is everyone seems to have forgotten about the billions in his bank account as well as the 1MDB scandal. So it was money well spent for Najib.
Dingy: The people who turned up for red shirt rally said they were paid by the organisers.
The Felda settlers said they were paid RM50 but some said they only received RM30. Who pocketed the other RM20?
The Dungun Umno division members said they received RM100, which they claimed was insufficient.
And who paid for the buses? Who set up the stage at Padang Merbok? Who provided portable toilets?
It's easy to verify the rumour that red shirt leader Jamal Md Yunos received a check of RM3 million from Najib. Just check his bank account.

Aries46: Umno supreme council member Annuar Musa's claim that Bersih participants were paid to protest is doubtful. Let the Bersih committee confirm if participants were paid to attend its rallies, Bersih 4 included.
As for Annuar's shameless admission that the reds were paid to attend the Sept 16 rally, I wonder how does that reconcile with their battle cry to defend Malay pride.
Does that mean that if they were not paid, Malay dignity would have taken a back seat or even ended up in the back burner?
Seriously, how many reds would have turned up is anyone's guess. Malay pride must be thankful to the taxpayers.
Roger 5201: This Umno supreme council member admitted protesters were paid to attend the rally.
Yet on the day of the rally, another red shirt leader went to extraordinary lengths to explain that the protesters came at their own expense.
And how does Annuar know Bersih paid their participants a lot more than he did? This is indeed a shameful admission by Umno.
Anonymous_3e86: I don't recall ever being paid to attend Bersih 3 and 4. In fact, I paid for my own transportation and all other expenses.
Just a Malaysian: The whole bunch of us went to Bersih 4 using every sen from our own pocket with the noble intention of seeking a better Malaysia for all, Chinese, Malays and Indian.
The red shirt rally was nowhere comparing to Bersih 4, it was a gathering of evil and negativity.
Real Truth: There is no need to prove anything; it was well-orchestrated rally by the Umno leadership to prop up a corrupt regime, using race and religion to gain support.
It has effectively displaced the 1MDB investigation and the street rally by red shirts was a diversion from the alleged RM2.6 billion grand theft.
Anonymous Kingfisher: As each day passes, more and more dirty laundry of our current and former top leaders is savoured by the public.
While many enjoy the stories, however our country and ordinary folks are suffering when our disposable income is shrinking.
Now that the racial and religion cards have also been played, it will create even more and more antagonism and hatred, which many ordinary folks hate to see. Where is the light at the end of tunnel?
Those who love Malaysia dearly, we need all of you to say enough is enough. We demand actions from the government and our elected officers to ensure our economy and our livelihood do not keep heading south.
Anonymous #28648954: So here's the question: If you all weren't paid, just how many would have turned up for your red shirt rally? Be honest now. -Mkini
