Umno unleashing “red terror”, claims evangelista (a former ambassador)

Malaysian former ambassador Dennis Ignatius said that Najib Razak and his coterie have released “their own version of the ‘red guards’ to intimidate and terrorize”.
He said this today in his Malaysiakini article – see below – after accusing Umno of having taken a “racist turn”.
Ignatius was our ambassador to Chile and Argentina after previously serving as a career diplomat in London and Washington. He is an evangelical preacher.

Ignatius predicted that with “state-sponsored tensions now rising, the stage is set for a new round of repression”.
He believes too that Malaysia risks becoming “another morally bankrupt, kleptocratic, two-bit, third-world dictatorship”.
Fluttering his evangelical favour on the sleeve, Ignatius asked, “Has it come to this now when racism is worn as a badge of religious fealty instead of the disgrace that it is?”

Fellow evangelista Wong Chun Wai finally yesterday said that the Red Shirt protest “smacks of racism”.
The J-Star CEO manned up in his column and used the ‘R’ word in his own name. In the Sunday before, Chun Wai chose to hedge by quoting other sources on the ‘racism’ attributed to the red-shirted protesters.
EvangeliSTAR owner, the MCA, has meanwhile labelled the Sept 16 protest “racist” outright.

Noor Farida derides ‘red shirt’ rally as ‘rent a mob’: Former diplomat Datuk Noor Farida Ariffin has dubbed th... http://bit.ly/1gqiINd
Farida Ariffin, spokesman for the group of 25 geriatrics (G25) called the Red rally participants a mob that had been rented.
The Red Shirts have been called, additionally, the Ku Klux Klan (screencap below),Malay supremacists, bigots, extremists as well as uncivilized and stupid people.

Those taking part in the Red rally have been depicted also as country bumpkins ferried to the venue without having any idea as to what they were bussed to KL for – see Malay Mail story above.
In the mind of those making the disdainful allegations, the Red Shirts are kampung folks who can be bought off with RM100, a packet of nasi bungkus and a bottle of mineral water. Cheap and not “high class” like the Bersih 4.0 participants who stopped at Starbucks and paid for their own coffee.
Other Red Shirts are described as Mat Rempit and other assorted hooligans. Or brainless “Dumno” shock troops. They’re portrayed as mercenaries paid a derisory sum of pocket money to swell the numbers.
Their contemptuous treatment in the English-language press differs greatly from the glowing coverage accorded to the Yellow Shirts only a fortnight earlier. The Bersih rally goers were painted by the media in positively bright and shiny terms.
Below are some photos shown by the Nest of Evangelistas to their readers.
