Ummi, who is also the sister of Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali, said KSR was formed because some leaders were "deaf" to what the people were saying.
"I have been in politics long enough though I was not directly involved. The voice of the people should be heard and should reach the leaders' ears. We don't want leaders who are deaf and 'syok sendiri'," she said during a press conference today to announce the launch of KSR, making a reference to a Malay expression that means "people who are full of themselves".
She also said that KSR would work on reducing the "arrogance" of leaders.
"I am a human being with principles, I feel under Najib, the respect towards the people's voice is gone," said Ummi, who announced that she had quit Umno in July shortly after Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was sacked as deputy prime minister in a Cabinet reshuffle.
Ummi, who gained fame as a prosecution witness against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in his first sodomy trial in 1998, had also said that she was "embarrassed" to remain an Umno member as the party no longer respected former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
KSR was formed on September 24 and Ummi today claimed that it already had 30,000 members.
Among its first activities will be to organise a special prayer session (solat hajat) in Putrajaya, following which a memorandum would be handed over to Najib.
Ummi said she expected between 50,000 to 100,000 people to attend the prayer session including Dr Mahathir, who has now become Najib's main critic.
"Najib can come and take the oath at the Putrajaya mosque," she added.
The event will take place either at the end of October or early November, she said.
However, KSR will not be demanding for Najib to resign.
"We won't be asking him to resign, but we have a strong basis to push him towards that direction," she said.
She also plans to publish a five-page open letter to Najib demanding explanations regarding recent controversies.
