KUALA TERENGGANU - All Umno divisional information committees are required to organise talks and briefings on Budget 2016 at least twice a month to enlighten the people on the matter.
Umno Information chief Datuk Ahmad Maslan said special committees should be formed by the party wings at the divisional level for the purpose.
"Everything about the 2016 Budget is in the newspapers today, but not everybody read the newspapers and understand what the theme 'Prospering The Rakyat' is about. So, that is the role of the speakers, to explain and make the people understand.
"For example, the people were worried when the Goods and Services Tax (GST) was implemented, but GST turned out to be a savior for the country," he told at a media conference after opening the Umno East Zone Oratory Contest at Wisma Darul Iman here, today.
Umno had set aside an allocation for the purpose, he said, adding that the programme should be carried out as soon as possible. – Bernama
