Shahbudin: Muhyiddin the ‘stump’ remains strong in Umno

Anyone who kicks a stump will only hurt himself, bleed from the feet and complain about pain.

KUALA LUMPUR: A political analyst has argued in his latest blog posting that if Umno Deputy President and sacked Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin has been left as a stump in the party, it means that party President and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak wasn’t brave enough to sack or expel him from the party as the number two. “All he can do was to shut off the avenues, one by one, where he can be with the party members.”

Shahbudin Husin, the analyst, was commenting on Muhyiddin complaining that he remains like a stump on the stage in Umno.

The Umno Deputy President was referring to the fact that he has been denied the opportunity, as tradition held, to address the UMNO Wanita, Youth and Puteri annual general meetings on December 8. “He has also raised the possibility that he might not be allowed to deliver the closing speech at the Umno General Assembly,” noted the analyst.

Muhyiddin shouldn’t worry too much, assured the analyst. “A stump usually comes from a strong tree. Other trees don’t leave the kind of stumps that remain strong.”

The stump of a tree in the forest cannot be lightly dismissed, cautions the analyst. “A stump will last a long time until rooted out and removed.”

In the meantime, anyone who kicks against a stump will only hurt himself, bleed from the feet and complain about pain. “So, don’t play the fool with a stump.”
