Police today denied that there was a bomb at Segi University in Kota Damansara after some 2,000 students were evacuated earlier this morning.
Petaling Jaya police chief Mohd Zaini told reporters outside Segi University that the campus received a call at about 10am, from a caller who alleged that an “Iranian male” would plant a bomb in one of the building's toilets.
“Investigations are still ongoing, but we didn't find any suspicious object.”
Earlier, it was reported that students were told to leave the university compound at about 11am following the discovery of an unattended bag.
“We had to evacuate and check because we don't know which toilets,” sad Zaini.
He added that police recorded statements from the staff and the university was reopened at 2pm.
A bomb squad from Selangor police contingent headquarters also searched the area for more than one hour but did not find anything.
Today's bomb scare comes five days after the bomb squad was called to Pavilion KL where two backpacks were discovered unattended under a chair.
It was a false alarm as officers found the bags to be full of clothes, left by two Korean tourists who later returned to claim their property.
