DCA says no permits yet for Bayu Air to start flying

The Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) has not received any application for a permit or licence to operate an airline called Bayu Air.
Its director-general, Azharuddin Abdul Rahman, regretted the Bayu Air announcement they would start services in August, despite not applying and obtaining approval from the authorities.
"A new airline that wants to operate scheduled flights or unscheduled flights must first apply for permits and licences from the Transport Ministry and the DCA before making any announcement.
"This is contained in rule 10 and 17 of the Civil Aviation Regulations," he said in a statement to the media in Putrajaya today.
Azharuddin said the DCA has also been in touch with the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry regarding the matter.
"We have been told that the ministry has no knowledge of the annoucement and never officially gave support to the airline."
He urged all airlines to comply with the regulations and laws that have been established under the Civil Aviation Act.
