KUCHING: A teacher who collapsed and fainted in SMK Matang Hilir yesterday morning, died several hours later while receiving treatment at the Sarawak General Hospital.
The teacher who was assigned to analyse the Form Three Assessment (PT3) results in SMK Matang Hilir collapsed while students were collecting their PT3 results.
SMK Matang Hilir senior assistant Amat Saimin Timun confirmed that the teacher, Norlisa Jerry, 39, died at about 4pm yesterday.
Norlisa who was not married and from Sibu, first started teaching in the school in 2010. She taught mathematics.
Amat said several teachers from the school were at the hospital when Norlisa passed on.
He said her body would be sent to her home here and buried at the Semariang Muslim Cemetery at 9am today.
According to Amat, at about 9.30am yesterday, Norlisa collapsed in the school’s general office while waiting to submit to him her report on the analysis of the PT3 results of the school’s students.
He described her as very committed to the tasks entrusted upon her.
“She was very meticulous in all the tasks given to her and also worked to ensure that there were no mistakes,” Amat told Bernama.
He described her death as a big loss to the school, especially the students as she was very dedicated to her role as an educator.
