PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has denied saying that PAS only wanted to rule in five states and that Umno could have the rest in the next general election.
"I had never made such a statement. I don't know the future. It could be 10 states, three states, one state, the general election will decide," he told a press conference in Cyberjaya today.
He was asked to respond to a video which recorded him as saying so.
"Give Terengganu, give Kelantan, give Kedah, give Perak and give Selangor - let PAS rule.
"The rest of the states, if Umno want them, let them," he had said in the video.
Elaborating on PAS' general election goal today, Hadi said the party aimed to capture 40 parliamentary seats.
PAS is expected to hold its muktamar and party elections in Kedah next month.
However, Abdul Hadi's position is expected to remain unchallenged.
Also present at the press conference today was PAS Youth chief Nik Abduh Nik Aziz, who said he will not be defending his position.- Mkini
