Home ministry board says slippers with Quranic words real

Quran Printing, Control and Licensing Board says slippers that were bought must be surrendered to the ministry or state religious agencies to be disposed of.
PUTRAJAYA: The Quran Printing, Control and Licensing Board under the home ministry today confirmed that slippers with the word “Allah” printed on them were being sold in public, as claimed by certain quarters.
Its chairman, Harussani Zakaria, said the board had examined the slippers concerned, which indeed had the words “Ya Hayyun Ya Qayyum” written on them.
“As such, seizures were made and further action is being taken by the home ministry through the Printing of Quranic Text Act 1986,” he said in a statement.
The board advised those who had bought the slippers to hand them over to the home ministry or the Islamic religious department in their respective states to be disposed of.
On another matter, Harussani confirmed that an image printed on the soles of a type of shoes manufactured by Bata was not made up of Arabic letters. The image went viral on social media recently. -FMT
