Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) raided the home of Johor exco Abd Latif Bandi and seized 150 handbags, a luxury vehicle and RM41,000.
A photograph of the handbags showed various luxury brands including Chanel, Hermes, Prada, Louis Vuitton and Gucci.
Also confiscated was a Toyota Vellfire, a luxury MPV.
According to a MACC source, the raid took place at around 11am, shortly after Abdul Latif was arrested at the MACC office in Johor Baru where he was being questioned.
The case is investigated under Section 17 of the MACC Act and Section 4 of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
Previously, MACC arrested six individuals over allegations of graft involving the conversion of bumiputera land titles in exchange for kickbacks.
Among others, MACC arrested Abdul Latif's son and the exco member's special officer. MACC also seized 26 luxury vehicles and froze 45 bank accounts in connection with the case.
Abdul Latif went on indefinite leave last Wednesday.- Mkini
