NIBONG TEBAL: A magistrate’s court fixed March 8 to decide on the case of a 35-year-old mother who was charged with slapping a teacher at a school in Sungai Bakap.
Tan Seow Yen is alleged to have slapped her child’s primary school teacher L. Vanitha, 38, at SJK (C) Chong Kuang in Sungai Bakap at about 5.15pm on Feb 2, 2015.
Magistrate Shamsol Azwa Martadza fixed the date at the close of the defence case at the Jawi magistrate’s court here.
Vanitha, who taught Bahasa Malaysia to Tan’s child, has since been transferred to another school here.
The offence comes under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
It carries a maximum one-year jail term or a RM2,000 fine, or both if convicted.
Five prosecution witness and two defence witnesses have testified in the case.
DPP Afiq Nazrin Zaharinan prosecuted the case while Tan was represented by lawyer Mohd Ismail Mohamed.
