PKR has called for a full investigation and royal inquiry into revelations of a North Korean front company operating in Malaysia, along with the UN's allegations of sanctions violations.
"News reports quoting a UN report naming Glocom, a company formed in Malaysia and operated by North Korean intelligence agency Reconnaissance General Bureau, is extremely worrying and a significant cause for concern.
"Of primary concern to the Malaysian public is how an arms company such as Glocom, operated by the intelligence agency of a foreign country, has been allowed to operate in Malaysia," said PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil.
"Therefore, for the sake of national security, the Malaysian government must swiftly initiate measures including freezing the assets of the Glocom and its company directors, and full police investigations must be initiated on them.
"If they are found to have violated any Malaysian laws, they must be brought to justice," he said in a statement today.
The revelation over Glocom's existence came after Malaysia hit the spotlight following the murder of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s estranged half-brother at KL International Airport 2 on Feb 13.
Reuters last Thursday cited a UN report as revealing the North Koreans as behind a military equipment company called Glocom, with its office in an unmarked door on the second floor of a rundown building in Kuala Lumpur's 'Little India' neighbourhood.
