Police chief confirms it's Jong-nam, tightlipped on details

Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar has confirmed that the person who was murdered at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) on Feb 13 is Kim Jong-nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
However, he was tightlipped on how the identification was done.
“We have fulfilled the requirement of the law on his identification. I am not going to tell you how we did it due to the security and safety of the witnesses,” he told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur.
“I am just telling you the body earlier known as Kim Chol, is Jong-nam,” he added, declining to state if a DNA sample had been provided for identification purposes.
Jong-nam's identity was not officially established as he was travelling under the name Kim Chol at the time of his death.
Pressed further on how identification can be done without DNA, Khalid replied: “That is our job, not your job, we don't have to tell you.”
The body, he said, will now be handed over to the Health Ministry as no family members have come to claim it.
As for the motive, the police chief said it is up to the courts to determine it.
Two women, a Vietnamese and Indonesian national, have been charged with killing Jong-nam by smearing VX nerve agent on the deceased's face while he waited to board a flight to Macau.

Four others have been accused of the crime but remain at large.
Police believe three of the suspects are in the North Korean embassy in Malaysia, although Khalid said an arrest warrant has yet to be issued.
"We can get the warrant any time," he said.
Meanwhile, the IGP also brushed off concerns about cyber attacks from North Korea.
"We will be prepared," Khalid said.
He similarly dismissed allegations that there are North Korean spies operating in Cyberjaya.- Mkini
