Remand extended for four in Johor land case, two developers out on bail

The Magistrate's Court in Johor Baru today ordered four of six men under investigation over a real estate corruption scandal to be remanded for another seven days from today.
Magistrate Hafizah Johor Ariff Johor issued the order at about 11am to facilitate the investigation under Section 17(a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009.
The previous seven-day remand order, issued on Feb 25, expired today. Two of the six men, both developers, were released on MACC bail.
Besides the developers, the others under probe are the son and a special aide of a Johor state government official, a lawyer and a member of the public.

All of them, aged between 25 and 50, were arrested at various locations in Johor Baru in an MACC simultaneous operation at about 8.30am on Feb 24.
The MACC also seized 21 luxury cars, five high-powered motorcycles, RM500,000 worth of cash including foreign currency and several documents.
A total of 45 bank accounts of the suspects, involving a sum of at least RM15.5 million, were frozen.
