'Technical error' led to original version of Hadi's bill showing up in order paper

A technical error was the reason behind the unamended version of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's bill appearing in the Parliament order paper, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Azalina Othman Said.
Azalina, who is the minister overseeing Parliament, said this will be rectified by the House, to reflect amendments moved by Hadi last November.
"I have received a letter from the Dewan Rakyat secretary (Rosmee Hamzah) dated March 2, 2017 where she apologised (over the matter).
"She explained that it was an unintended technical mistake by the Dewan Rakyat management division," Azalina said in a statement today.
Yesterday, it was reported that the original version of Hadi's motion to amend the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act (Act 355) was printed on the Parliament order paper.
This was the version in which Hadi sought to remove the punishment cap for syariah offences, excluding the death penalty.
However the PAS president had last November changed the proposed amendments to raise the punishment cap to 30 years' jail, RM100,000 fine and 100 strokes of the cane instead.
The current syariah punishment cap is three years’ imprisonment, RM5,000 fine and six strokes of the cane.
Hadi's bill was amended in the last Parliament session after a joint meeting with BN lawmakers chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The government plans to take over the bill once it reaches the second reading.- Mkini
