KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has denied freezing the bank account of Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s grandson.
“His grandson’s account was never frozen,” Deputy Commissioner Datuk Seri Azam Baki (pic) told Sinar Harian.
The former prime minister’s daughter Nooryana Najwa had previously claimed that her and her son’s personal bank account was frozen after she posted bail for her father.
She wrote on a closed Facebook group 'Malaysians for Civil Liberty' on Thursday (July 5), saying that her bank informed her that they received instructions to freeze both the accounts.
.Najib on Wednesday (July 3) claimed trial to three counts of criminal breach of trust and another charge of abuse of power involving RM42 million linked to SRC International Sdn Bhd, a former subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
The High Court set a bail amount of RM1 million and allowed him to pay the first half of RM500,000 on Wednesday, with the balance to be settled by next Monday.
His children Norashman and Nooryana Najwa posted the bail.- Star
