Former Federal Territories Umno Youth chief Razlan Rafii has warned Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Amar Singh, and the MACC to stop talking about 1MDB, thereby creating a negative perception of former premier Najib Abdul Razak.
He cited a temporary gag order granted by the Kuala Lumpur High Court following MACC's move to charge Najib for abuse of power and criminal breach of trust yesterday.
"The Federal Territories police, MACC, and Amar: Stop talking about 1MDB. Don't let the media judge Najib. I am warning you.
"Don't be so eager to talk about this and that list, about the millions seized ... RM1.1 billion. There is no truth to these negative matters and it prejudices Najib in the eyes of the people.
"Whether he is guilty or not, let the courts decide. Civil servants shouldn't play this perception game," he told the press when met outside Najib's Langgak Duta home today.
The charges against Najib by the MACC pertain to SRC International, not 1MDB specifically.
Police teams led by Amar had previously confiscated cash, handbags, luxury watches, sunglasses and jewellery with a combined estimated retail value of up to RM1.1 billion from Najib’s home and properties linked to him.
Among the jewellery found were 1,400 necklaces, 2,200 rings, 2,100 bangles, 2,800 earrings, 1,600 brooches and 14 tiaras.
Najib has said that the items were mainly gifts to him and his family, and not linked to the funds missing from troubled state-owned company 1MDB. - Mkini
