KU NAN-LINKED SCANDAL DEEPENS: NOW OWNER OF MEDAN IMBI BUILDING OFFERS TO BUY OVER 2 PLOTS OF LAND

KUALA LUMPUR – The owner of a six-storey building and fruit stall in Medan Imbi here has offered to buy over the land.
It was earlier reported that the owner obtained necessary approvals from the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to build the structures on two plots of land belonging to the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur Lands and Mines Office (PTG) without the land owner’s permission.
The owner had earlier ignored DBKL’s eviction notice to vacate the premises by Jan 10 but was given until the end of the month to suggest a solution.
Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad said the owner has written to PTG, and forwarded the copies to the Federal Territories Ministry and DBKL to propose the solution.
“Any settlement will not absolve the building owner of wrongdoing. We are not legalising the owner’s wrongdoing. The owner will still need to pay the fine and what is due.
“However, it is most likely that PTG will take over the building if no settlement is reached.
He also said that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will investigate how the development order was approved will continue to determine if there were elements of corruption and abuse of power involved.
He said this at a press conference after the launch of Placemaking@Putrajaya Lake Side Trail programme in Putrajaya on Sunday (Jan 27).
He said that he would reveal another similar case next week involving a building constructed on government land without any approval.
