Cops nab students during protest against college management

Police today arrested a group of college students in Ara Damansara when they were protesting against the management of a private institution.
Also arrested was a PSM activist, Sharan Raj, who is an adviser to the college's students union.
According to a media statement by PSM secretary-general A Sivarajan, the students were protesting against an alleged act of union-busting by the management.
"The owner of the college declined to negotiate with the group, and called the police to have them arrested.

"They are now being taken to the Kelana Jaya police station. We call for the press to cover this issue," Sivarajan claimed in the statement.
When contacted via text message, Sharan said a total of eight people, including seven students, were detained by police at 5pm.
He said the protest started at 3pm and was participated by about 90 students from the college.
Malaysiakini is trying to get a response from the police.
