'Many to choose from' - Umno's Bung to unveil Kimanis candidate on Jan 1

KIMANIS POLLS | Sabah Umno chief Bung Moktar Radin said he has many potential candidates to consider and will unveil his top choice for the Kimanis by-election on New Year's Day.
"I have yet to decide as I have a list of many potential candidates to choose from.
"On Jan 1, 2020, I will announce the candidate on behalf of BN for the Kimanis by-election," he told Malaysiakini when contacted.
Malaysiakini previously reported that Kimanis Umno chief Mohamad Alamin was a frontrunner to represent BN in the by-election.

Also being considered is former foreign minister Anifah Aman's younger brother Ahmad Zachry Anifah.
The Kimanis by-election will be held on Jan 18 next year.
The nomination will be on Jan 4, with early voting is on Jan 14.
During the 14th general election, Anifah had won with a slim majority of just 156 votes.
He garnered 11,942 votes in a three-cornered fight, with Karim receiving 11,786 votes and Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah’s Jaafar Ismail getting 1,300 votes.
On Dec 2, the Federal Court upheld an Election Court ruling that nullified the 2018 election result for the Kimanis seat on grounds that the election was not carried out in accordance with the procedure.
Anifah had indicated that he won't defend the seat in the by-election but may consider during the 15th general election. - mkini
