Covid-19: Alliance Bank shuts 3 branches after staff tests positive

Malaysiakini

Alliance Bank Malaysia Bhd has closed three of its branches after a staff tested positive for Covid-19.
In a media statement this afternoon, the bank said the employee was attached to the Damansara Uptown branch.
“The staff also services two other branches - Alliance Bank Taman Tun Dr Ismail and Kota Damansara. He is currently receiving medical attention at a local hospital,” it added.
Following this, the bank said the three branches would be closed until further notice for a thorough sanitisation exercise to be carried out in accordance with the Health Ministry's guidelines.
As of yesterday, Malaysia recorded a total of 2,740 Covid-19 infections and 34 deaths.
In his daily briefing yesterday, Health director-general Noor Hisham Abdullah also noted that in the past 24 hours, there were seven deaths related to the virus.
The youngest patient to succumb to the illness was a 27-year-old Malaysian who suffered from diabetes, high blood pressure and kidney disease.
Whereas, the oldest victim was a 91-year-old woman.
Malaysia has been recording a three-digit increase in Covid-19 cases for more than a week with the biggest cluster being a gathering at a mosque in Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur, last month.
Noor Hisham said many of the remaining clusters are due to fourth and fifth-generation infections from the Sri Petaling cluster.
He said the number of patients in the intensive care unit remains at 73 despite the deaths. However, the number of people on ventilators in ICU has fallen from 54 to 52. - Mkini
