CORONAVIRUS | Visit sessions between prison inmates and their family members have been postponed to a date which will be announced later, in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Prisons Department public relations unit said in a statement today the postponement is also for visits to the Bandar Hilir Prison Museum, Malacca, as well as programmes and visits by lawyers, the Royal Malaysia Police, embassies and non-governmental organisations.
“This is a move to prevent the spread of Covid-19 into the prisons. The cooperation of all concerned is appreciated with thanks and any inconvenience is regretted,” the statement said.
On March 18, the Prisons Department announced the same postponement with immediate effect until March 31, in accordance with the movement control order (MCO).
The government has since extended the MCO until April 14.
