Football referee has Covid-19, players and spectators urged to get tested

Malaysiakini

COVID-19 | Health authorities in Tawau have sent out a Covid-19 notice calling for players and spectators at recent football matches in the town to report to the local health department.
This came after a match referee was yesterday found to be positive with Covid-19, according to Bernama.
The news agency reported that the referee is also an officer at the Tawau prison.
The Tawau Health Department, in a Facebook message, urged players and spectators at several football matches to come forward.
The affected events are football matches played at Padang Penjara Tawau on Aug 28, 29 and Sept 2, as well as football matches played at Padang Stadium MPT Tawau on Aug 30 and 31.
The notice asked for the public to cooperate in order to break the chain of Covid-19 infection in Tawau.
According to Bernama, around 100 people have received a Covid-19 test at the Tawau Health Department since the notice went out yesterday evening.
"The screening was conducted since 8am today, and the centre will remain open until 5pm. Individuals who were at the fields are asked to come forward for a Covid-19 screening," Tawau district health officer Dr G Navindran was quoted as saying.
Affected persons can contact the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre at 019-6053475 or 016-4729314. - Mkini
