Federal Territories Covid centre recommends more sectors reopen

The Federal Territories Covid-19 Coordination and Management Centre (CCMC) will recommend the opening of more economic sectors in the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya to the National Security Council (NSC).

Federal Territories Minister Shahidan Kassim said this was to prepare both territories for Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) and revitalise sectors that have been hit by the pandemic.

“We (Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya) would like to move to Phase 2 by taking into account the vaccination of the adult population which has exceeded 100 percent and there is a declining trend in daily coronavirus cases.

“However, the decision is up to the NSC,” he told reporters after chairing a CCMC meeting in Kuala Lumpur yesterday today.

Based on statistics from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF), as of yesterday, the three Federal Territories including Labuan have fully vaccinated over 80 percent of its population.

For Kuala Lumpur, 2.7 million have received their first dose and 2.1 million have received both doses.

Putrajaya recorded 126,656 and 117,094 receiving their first and second doses respectively.

Labuan has moved to Phase 4 of the NRP  after 70,313 received their first dose and 67,818 their second.
