The Ministry of Higher Education is planning to allow students of higher learning institutions to return to campuses for the 2021/2022 academic session starting October.
Minister Noraini Ahmad said this is to enable students to return to campuses after they are fully vaccinated.
She said this was agreed to during a special meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) on Thursday (Sept 2).
She said she met Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin yesterday to propose for students and staff of higher learning institutions to be prioritised in getting their vaccines.
The goal is to have a safe campus community by October, she said on Facebook last night.
Noraini said her ministry projected 1.296 million vaccines are needed to vaccinate 648,000 students.
The ministry also proposed vaccination centres at higher learning institutions only be designated for students and staff.
