The Klang Valley may be seeing a decrease with its Covid-19 cases, but its number of reported deaths is still consistently one of the highest among all the states.
However, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin (above) said he expects the death rate in the Klang Valley to be reduced in the next two to three weeks, or as soon as they clear the backlog of reported deaths.
He also clarified that the daily deaths figure reported by the Health Ministry is not the total number of deaths in the past 24 hours.
“There is a huge backlog of deaths because we have to confirm whether the deceased truly died of Covid-19 or not,” Khairy said in a press conference during his visit to Kota Kinabalu today.
He said he does have a list of the deaths reported by date, and added that he will reveal more information about the backlog of reported deaths this coming Wednesday.
In the past seven days, the Klang Valley has continued to report three-digit deaths almost every day, despite the downwards trend of the number of its Covid-19 cases.
