Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh wants the government to urgently approve RM1,000 in cash aid for individuals including from her constituency who were affected by the flash flood in parts of Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Yeoh said affected areas include Kampung Segambut Luar, Kampung Segambut Dalam, Kampung Masjid Segambut, Kampung Segambut Bahagia, Kampung Segambut Bahagia Tambahan, Kolam Air and Kampung Kasipillay.
“Given the approaching Hari Raya celebrations and how many preparations were damaged, I urge the prime minister and federal territories minister to urgently approve cash aid of at least RM1,000 for affected individuals,” she said in a statement.
The water which rose up to two feet damaged furniture including mattresses, school supplies and parked vehicles, Yeoh added.
The DAP lawmaker also reiterated calls for a permanent solution to the capital’s flooding woes, a recurring issue that once again gained prominence after a major incident in December last year.
