Police have today arrested a suspect believed to be responsible for a series of sexual assaults at Tamarind Square business park in Cyberjaya.
Sepang district police chief Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said the suspect was picked up this afternoon by a team that was assigned to hunt the perpetrator.
"I have just been informed that our team has arrested the suspect, he is now in police custody," the senior officer told the media in a WhatsApp group.
Details of the arrest and the suspect are still unavailable to the media, but Kamarul Azran indicated that he is planning to hold a press conference to reveal more about the case.
Earlier today, the district police chief informed reporters that police had launched a manhunt for a man who molested several women at the business park yesterday.
According to police reports received from victims, two women had been molested in separate incidents at the business park just 15 minutes apart.
In the first incident at about 2pm, the perpetrator, reported to be clad in dark clothing, had groped a 27-year-old personal assistant on the third floor of the premises' parking lot as she was about to put her stuff in her car.
The second incident was reported to have happened at 2.15pm, involving a 34-year-old woman. The victim was waiting for an elevator at Level 2 of Block A Tamarind Square when the suspect hugged her from behind and molested her.
Kamarul Azran added that the police had acquired closed-circuit television recordings from the premises, and they believed that the two attacks were committed by the same individual.
Police also suspected the man to be the same culprit responsible for a similar attack at the business park in December last year.
The authority is expected to hold an identification line-up and will call all the victims involved. - Mkini
