The MACC has launched an investigation into the sale of land proposed for the development of an international airport in Seri Iskandar.
Perak MACC chief Mohd Fauzi Mohamad said this was following a report received from Manjoi assemblyperson Asmuni Awi yesterday.
“We have started an investigation to identify whether there are any offences under the MACC Act 2009.
“The MACC will call up several individuals to assist in the probe soon,” he told Bernama when contacted today.
Fauzi, however, refused to reveal the names of the individuals concerned.
Yesterday, four state executive council members in the previous Pakatan Harapan government, including Asmuni, called on the MACC to investigate the sale of the 188ha of land belonging to the Perak State Development Corporation (PKNP) to a private company.
They claimed that the matter was never discussed at the state executive council or PNKP board of directors meetings during the Harapan administration.
Last Thursday, Saarani said the land was sold when Harapan was in power because, during the BN administration, the land was reserved for PKNP for the purpose of building the airport.
The matter came to light after Aulong assemblyperson, Nga Kor Ming, during the Perak State Assembly sitting last Tuesday, claimed that land had been sold without the state government’s permission.
