PETALING JAYA: A foreigner led police on a 30-minute car chase yesterday before he was arrested.

The drama began when he attempted to run down patrol policemen who flagged him down along Jalan Sungai Buloh here.

Petaling Jaya district deputy police chief Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said police had to fire a shot at the tyre of the suspect’s car when he tried to ram them, but the motorist still sped off.

The 40-year-old man was finally arrested at Bandar Pinggiran Subang in Shah Alam at 6pm when he abandoned his car and tried to escape on foot.

He said the man had been remanded for four days for investigation on attempted murder and defying police orders.

The man did not have valid identification or travel documents.
