COVID-19 | The Health Ministry said 10,124 new daily Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday, bringing the total cumulative cases to 4,307,529.
This represents a substantial drop compared to the previous day's total of 14,944 new cases.
Active cases currently stood at 153,463, down by nearly a third compared to 14 days ago.
Another 21 deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, none of which were declared as 'brought in dead'.
Over the past week, an average of 35.1 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 58.8, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the downtrend.
Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 35,280 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.
There have been 297 reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 2,235 deaths last month, 770 deaths in February and 491 in January.
Malaysia has the highest number of deaths per capita in the Asean and East Asian regions with 1,066 deaths per 1 million population, and the fourth-worst in Asia after Iran, Lebanon and Jordan – all in the Middle East.
The state with the highest number of deaths was Johor (4), followed by Kedah (3), Pahang (3), Selangor (3), Perak (2), Sarawak (2), Malacca (1), Perlis (1), Kuala Lumpur (1) and Negeri Sembilan (1). - Mkini
