Former Terengganu MB rubbishes notion he will relinquish his seat to Khairuddin

 

Former Terengganu menteri besar Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman has denied a viral claim on social media that he was willing to give up his seat to Kuala Nerus MP Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali, who left PAS recently

Ahmad Razif (above), who is Seberang Takir state assemblyperson, said he received many calls yesterday on the matter.

"It is said that I am willing to give up the Seberang Takir state seat to Kuala Nerus MP, who is also a former PAS member, Khairudin Aman Razali in the 15th GE.

"The quote was also accompanied by a picture of my presence at Khairuddin's press conference.

"I would like to emphasise that the Facebook status is untrue, false and is a heavy slander thrown at me which aims to tarnish my reputation as a Seberang Takir Assemblyman," he said in a statement on Facebook today.

He added that the statement was completely absurd, funny, nonsensical and embarrassing done by those who were irresponsible.

It is even sadder, said Ahmad Razif, when such slander is spread during the holy month of Ramadan.

"What happened is that I, as the Seberang Takir assemblyperson, just attended the breaking of fast ceremony to celebrate Ramadan with single mothers and the community in the Kuala Nerus parliamentary constituency organised by Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB)

"The ceremony was also attended by Khairuddin as the chairman of PAAB and no statement was issued by me, let alone as reported by the Facebook user," he explained.

Ahmad Razif served as the leader of the Terengganu state government from 2014 to 2018 heading an Umno-led administration, while Khairuddin left PAS following a number of conflicts with the leadership, which included his favouring closer ties with Umno. - Mkini
