EZZAH Ilyas, 17, begins her day by helping her mother prepare an array of dishes and cakes.
Her divorcee mother, Siti Maslinda Ishak, 39, sells kuih kapit (love letters) and kuih loyang (honeycomb cookie or achappam), among other popular traditional fare during Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
Ezzah is the eldest child, and the family lives in a 377sq ft flat in Kuala Lumpur that is more than 60 years old.

Although she is still schooling, Ezzah has set her sights on expanding her mother's business and hopefully taking the family out of poverty.
