PN offers to reduce PTPTN loans, zero-interest housing loans for youths

GE15 | Perikatan Nasional's manifesto includes a slew of benefits for youths from education loan reductions, and home ownership initiatives.

PN chief Muhyiddin Yassin (above) announced tonight that if the coalition takes over Putrajaya, Higher Education Fund (PTPTN) borrowers who graduate second class will get a 25 percent reduction on their loans.

He also pledged that internship and practical training allowances would be raised to RM1,200.

Gig workers are also eligible for an RM1,000 special incentive to take part in selected courses at higher education institutes.

On housing, Muhyiddin said PN is offering to introduce a zero-interest housing loan programme for young families.

They will also be creating micro homes schemes for affordable rental housing in major cities, as well as strengthening financing options for the B40 and M40 such as rent-to-own schemes and buying land.

PN is also pledging to appoint two youths as senators in order to represent young Malaysians in Parliament.

Meanwhile, Muhyiddin said a PN government would also build an e-sports stadium in the country, in an effort to boost the industry.

He also pledged efforts to encourage more youths to learn IT skills such as programming.

Pledges for women

For women, PN pledged zero-interest loans up to RM20,000 for new women entrepreneurs.

Muhyiddin also vowed aggressive intervention to put women in 30 percent of top positions in the public and private sectors.

For the elderly, the PN chief said the coalition would introduce a Kad Prihatin Nasional that would give seniors free healthcare at private clinics and government hospitals.

PN will also introduce a scheme for doctor house visits to improve healthcare for the elderly.

For disabled people, PN pledged to make it mandatory for all public and private premises to have disabled-friendly facilities.

A PN government would also improve community rehabilitation centres, and enhance vocational training for disabled groups.

Muhyiddin said PN would also allocate RM20 million for disabled entrepreneurs. - Mkini
