Kelantan PAS Youth chief Mohamad Kamal Mohamed has called for a probe against those who leaked a letter on a purported bonus payout to the board and staff members of state water provider Air Kelantan Sdn Bhd (AKSB).
"Although the letter was meant to be confidential and was supposed to be accessible to only a select few, it has now been unfairly circulated to cast a negative perception against AKSB.
"Secondly, it is a normal procedure to pay an annual bonus to board members to recognise their 'hard work' in providing feedback and decisions to the management.
“More so when seven out of nine of the board members are professionals in the water management aspect, with no party positions," Kamal said in a statement today.
Come clean
Earlier today, Kelantan PKR asked AKSB to come clean on the widely shared letter, which alleged that a bonus of RM10,000 was paid out to each of the nine board members in conjunction with Aidilfitri.
The letter also alleged that a bonus of RM200 was given to every staff member and RM2,000 to the company secretary.
One of the board members - Kadok assemblyperson Azami Mohd Nor, who also holds the state's state public works, infrastructure, transport, and utility committee portfolio, declined comment when contacted by Malaysiakini.
Elaborating, Kamal said AKSB had ensured that the welfare of its staff was taken care of before the Hari Raya celebrations.
"If PAS members were 'as evil' as those who circulated the confidential document to demonise the state government, they could reveal the one-off payments to federal GLC board members, which is not any less (than the amount in question).
"I hope AKSB can investigate the leak of this document among its staff.
“The document is classified under the Official Secrets Act 1972, and as such, those who circulated it with ill intention should be brought to book." - Mkini
