Amanah Youth: How much did Kelantan govt spend on open house events?

The PAS-led Kelantan government has been asked to reveal how much it had allocated to organise Aidilfitri open house events within and outside the state.

Kelantan Amanah Youth vice-chief Ariff Bashiruddin Rusli said PAS leaders have been harping on how much the federal government had spent on similar events.

“Before this, PAS leaders gave the impression that the Malaysia Madani open house events were a waste of funds and politically motivated.

“But what about those organised by the Kelantan government?” he told Malaysiakini.

Training his guns on PAS lawmaker Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, he asked if the Pasir Mas MP could reveal to the public how much the state government had spent.

He was responding to Fahdli who had raised the issue of the federal government’s open house events in the Dewan Rakyat.

Ariff claimed the Kelantan state government had also organised open house events in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.

“So how many events were held and how much was spent?

“PAS Youth attempted to paint the Malaysia Madani open house events as a waste, but they celebrated Aidilfitri in a merrier manner.

“So, we call on (PAS) not to politicise events organised for the people,” he added.

On Monday, the government revealed that the open house events hosted by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu cost just over RM6 million.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Sabah, Sarawak Affairs, and Special Functions) Armizan Mohd Ali said this was cheaper compared to the open house hosted by Anwar's predecessor last year.

In a written parliamentary reply, Armizan said the open house in Kedah cost RM3.1 million - and RM1.5 million each in Kelantan and Terengganu.

However, there is an RM200,000 discrepancy in his reply, as he stated the total cost was RM6.3 million, while the breakdown only adds up to RM6.1 million. - Mkini
