Bung Moktar: Seat negotiations for state elections to be known next week

KUALA LUMPUR: The outcome of seat negotiations for the upcoming state elections will be known by next week.

Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin said seat negotiations for the unity government going into the state polls were still ongoing.

"We have not finalised it yet and at the state level, the discussions are still ongoing.

"It will be finalised by the end of this month (May)," he told reporters after attending the Umno Supreme Council meeting at Menara Dato Onn today.

Previously, six states, namely Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Kelantan, Kedah and Terengganu, agreed to dissolve their respective state assemblies in the last two weeks of June to make way for state elections.

Meanwhile, on the agenda of tonight's meeting, Bung Moktar said it discussed the future of Umno after the recent party election and the change of its leadership. - NST
