Former Hulu Langat MP Hasanuddin Mohd Yunus has been appointed as the chairperson of Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (Yadim).
The Islamic agency, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Prime Minister's Department, said the appointment was approved by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
“Hasanuddin (above) has vast experience in management and community affairs, which are in line with Yadim’s task of preaching to the public.
“He (Hasanuddin) was also previously active in social work with non-governmental associations,” said the agency in a Facebook post today.
Hasanuddin, who is also Amanah vice-president, was among the four incumbent MPs dropped from the party’s lineup for the 15th general election (GE15).
Meanwhile, the agency also announced the appointment of Associate Professor Adi Anuar Azmin @ Che Wan as Hasanuddin’s deputy.
The senior lecturer at the Faculty of Business and Communications at Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMap) will be tasked with producing young preachers in the country.
Both appointments came into effect on May 3, 2023.
“Yadim believes that the experience and leadership of both these leaders will boost the agency’s ability to spread Islamic values to Malaysian society.” - Mkini
