PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian meteorological department (MetMalaysia) has issued a level one heat wave alert for eight districts in Peninsular Malaysia.
The districts are Pekan, Bera and Rompin in Pahang; Segamat and Muar in Johor; Pasir Mas and Kuala Krai in Kelantan; and Padang Terap in Kedah.
According to a weather update on MetMalaysia’s website, the eight districts recorded a yellow (alert) level heat wave as of 4.45pm yesterday.
The yellow level alert refers to daily temperatures continually hovering between 35°C and 37°C for at least three consecutive days.
Meanwhile, other areas in the peninsula, as well as Sabah and Sarawak, recorded daily maximum temperatures of less than 35°C (blue level). - FMT
