PETALING JAYA: Police have not detected any signs of foul play in yesterday’s fire at the old EPF building on Jalan Gasing.
District police chief Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said this was based on their preliminary investigation into the fire that badly damaged the six-storey building yesterday morning.
“However, we will look into the forensic report from the fire and rescue department later,” he said when contacted.
The fire damaged the fourth and fifth floors. No casualties were reported as the building was left vacant after a similar fire broke out in 2018.
Firemen from seven stations were deployed to the scene after the public alerted them at around 10.40am.
The 63-year-old office building was scheduled to reopen in late 2024 as a state-of-the-art senior living facility. - FMT
